Our Story

Mega Nursing & Care was founded in 2011 by Margeret Lawal, an Advanced Nurse Practitioner with over 30 years of experience in the health and care sectors.

Meg’s Vision: Transforming Care, Enriching Lives

Driven by her passion for making a difference, Meg envisioned a nurse-led, clinically-based service that would provide high-quality care and support to local communities.

Meg’s extensive experience working in care homes had shown her that people could be better supported in the comfort of their own homes. She was determined to create a company that would deliver the exceptional care she believed everyone deserved.

Overcoming Challenges, Achieving Success

Starting Mega Nursing & Care was not an easy journey for Meg as she faced numerous obstacles, from navigating the complex regulatory landscape to building trust in a new company. However, her unwavering commitment and vision fuelled her determination to succeed.

Meg continued to work outside of the company to finance the business, all while completing her Master’s in Advanced Practice and raising three children as a single mother. The process of arranging care was often lengthy and bureaucratic, which she knew was impacting the quality of care people were receiving.

Despite these challenges, Meg persevered, driven by her desire to have a meaningful impact on local communities and improve the care industry. It took 11 months to secure the company’s first client, but Meg’s perseverance paid off. Mega Nursing & Care soon expanded, securing a spot contract with Northamptonshire County Council, expansion into Bedford and eventually breaking-even after four years.

A Family Affair: Expanding with Passion and Expertise

Meg’s sons, Winner and King, joined the company in the early years, bringing their own unique skills and expertise to the growing business.

Winner Lawal, Meg’s younger son, joined in 2012 while studying Biometric Sciences. He got involved on a full-time basis after graduating, driven by his vision to bring stability and progress to the company. Previously, Winner had considered a career in medicine, but after working in the company, he saw the immense potential for impact in the home care industry, particularly through Mega Nursing & Care.

King Lawal, her eldest son, joined in 2015, bringing his background in accountancy to support the business’s growth and sustainability. King’s vision was to install a culture of commitment, dedication and loyalty within the Mega Nursing & Care team, ensuring the company’s continued success.

Under King’s leadership, Mega has thrived in Bedfordshire and expanded into Hertfordshire in 2018. He also pioneered the “Rapid Response” (now “Home Recovery”) service in Bedfordshire, working closely with the East London NHS Foundation Trust to help hundreds of people safely return home quicker after hospital admissions.

Today, Mega Nursing & Care operates across Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Gloucestershire, Buckinghamshire, and Oxfordshire, delivering exceptional, compassionate care to communities throughout the region growing into Wiltshire, Manchester, London, Essex and Rotherham.

Continuing the Legacy of Care

Meg’s passion, resilience, and commitment to excellence have been the driving force behind Mega Nursing & Care’s success. Her vision of transforming care and enriching lives continues to guide the company’s mission, as Meg, her family and the determined team on all levels work tirelessly to make a positive impact on the communities we serve.

WHERE WE’VE COME FROM

timeline
“I am proud of Mega Care’s evolution - it has evolved and it is all positive. If we look at the standard of our assessments, standard of our Care Plan, standard of our staffing... It's completely improved, because there are new rules, new updates, new reviews new guidelines coming out all the time and we constantly strive to get there.
And so, I would say I am quite proud of where we are today.”
